I just decided to add my own twist with the apple cider vinegar to make it even healthier. Try it, you will be amazed!’

Ingredients

  • 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with the ‘mother’.
  • 1 teaspoon of raw honey
  • 1 cinnamon bark stick
  • Couple of slices of fresh ginger
  • 5-6 cloves
  • Squeeze of lemon juice

Method

Put all ingredients into a glass or mug and add 1/4 cold water.

Mix. Then add hot water on top. Adding cold water first helps prevent any damage or killing of nutrients in the honey and vinegar which may not fare well having boiling water put straight onto them.

I usually just take a shot and chase it with water (LOL) and my husband thinks it is the most disgusting thing ever. I don’t care though because it really helps my stomach issues!     1. Hi Alexis, yes, I used to take it as a shot before I started making the drink. Just be sure to rinse your mouth out wit some water afterwards as I have heard that you shouldn’t leave the acid from the vinegar in your mouth as it’s not good for your teeth. However, so far Ihaven’t noticed a problem with this.

      Funny you should say about the stomach issues as that’s exactly the reason why my boyfriend and me use it as we both have IBS, and it really helps, especially before a meal. Makes you less bloated, so I think it must help with digestion etc.

  3. Great info. I now have no excuse but to get back into the ACV habit. Was not aware about the pill form, but I find the taste to ok anyway. I have friends who think it is horrible-tasting so I will send them a link to this.

      Yes AVC is amazing, and I use it every day for all of the above reasons and absolutely love it as it has such great properties.

      I hope you like the recipe when you try it; it really is one of the tastiest ways to take this vinegar. The best times to take it is either first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (if you can tolerate it), or before meals if you have problems with bloating, IBS, or digesting food. I wouldn’t recommend more than a couple of tablespoons at a time as it would probably be too much, but you can probably find you own level.

When i was suffering with my gallbladder one of the tricks for ridding the pain was apple cider vinegar, i tried to drink it, don’t think I got too much down.     It also has the dual benefits of being both a probiotic (as long as it includes the mother as you helpfully point out) and a prebiotic (as long as it is unfiltered and retains some pulp and fiber) as apples are rich in pectin, a source of food for the health-promoting bacteria in your gut.

    1. Yes it’s great stuff and I have had amazing results with it myself, especially from IBS. I have recently started to try it out for weight loss purposes and am having a tablespoon before my breakfast and dinner, but I guess only time will tell how effective that’s going to be.
