I became a plant based diet advocate after boosting my own health from this amazing lifestyle. I started this blog to show others how I used exercise, nutrition and the plant based diet to transform my life and health to a level where I feel pretty awesome – better than I ever knew possible in fact!

I believe that this knowledge, plus my own trials and tribulations on the path of becoming a full-time plant-eater can be of help to those wishing to begin this planet-friendly lifestyle for themselves.

My passion for physical fitness and health started over 20 years ago, way back at a time when I was feeling unfit, unhealthy, and pretty low. It was about this time that I discovered the power of eating healthily and exercise, and wow, this was a game-changer for me.

In fact, my newfound zest had such a profound effect on me that I decided then and there I was going to study everything I could on the subject in order to help others to feel good about themselves and their bodies too.

As well as reading and studying nutritional articles, studies, and any other relevant information I could source at the time, I have also studied Sports Nutritional therapy, Clinical Weight loss and Nutritional Therapy to further my knowledge. I am also registered with the Health Sciences Academy.

While in medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine in the mid-90s Dr. Leigh Ettinger was a paid research study participant in a nutrition study. He recalls spending overnight in the hospital for blood tests after two weeks of drinking a lot of Sprite! After finishing his training in 2004, he joined the hospital staff at a children's hospital in a major metropolitan area and began treating children affected by kidney disease and hypertension.

Dr. Ettinger first learned about the plant-based diet in 2014 from a cyclist on Youtube! All of those years of education and practice had made him an expert in disease. Going plant-strong gave him many benefits, including weight loss, improved blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and increased energy. He had finally learned to be an expert in health. His family and some of his patients joined him in this plant-based journey.

In 2017 Dr. Ettinger joined the staff of the hospital’s outpatient pediatric weight management program to help families struggling with obesity.
After many years of treating serious childhood diseases, he turned his focus on wellness and prevention. In 2021 he founded the Doctor Herbivore telehealth practice to teach families how to thrive while eating plant-based, especially when there are weight concerns. He enjoys helping families successfully change course to a plant-strong path for their health, for the animals, for social justice, and for the environment.

For fun, Dr. Ettinger enjoys family time with his wife and three teenage children and all things bicycling related.
